Wow.. Xara made it rather easy to make both of these. The frog took a little more time because some portions I was unsure on how to best draw, but eventually it all worked properly. And yes… I know that the frog doesn’t have forelegs… so sue me (you’ll more than likely get all two pennies I’ve got in my pocket if you win the case).
Finally… it is finished. *shrug* a good bit of work. 9 layers, all done in gimp. Plenty of wee hours put in to it. Oh! and this is based of a crazy dream. Basically, I visited a world surrounded by water with clouds and air in the middle. Yeah. Nutz. And the locals were friendly (the guy shown in the image is one of the oldest dudes… I forget if they had gender). I’m crazy. Anyways, enjoy:
Arrgh… everyone else isn’t kidding when they say it’s hard to commit to college and anything else at the same time. I still can’t believe people manage to do it and keep a relationship and do all this other stuff. I’m sure you’re already expecting this, then: I gotta hold off on posting things. I need to do some color work, and once I finish the last dream related dude, I’ll go back to fixing up the lion sketch for another preview and I’ll also start doing some vector graphics. (arrgh… why does it have to be so difficult? Why can’t they have good illustration classes at my college? *self-pity, self-pity*)
I’m still rooting for the weekend… it looks like I won’t be going home this time, so that means I’ll be able to slaughter a couple more programming assignments and start some more fun illustration projects (mainly, extending my sketch styles to vector could take a couple good months of practice… that and the openGL coding will make it near impossible to do any raster graphics for you peeps for a bit, so enjoy these last to major pieces, and perhaps some other silly ones because I can… then it’ll be a ton of vector ’sketches’ )

Just a minor note… I’m going to mess with xara extreme demo for a bit. Hopefully, if it looks decent, I’ll buy the thing. I don’t see how it couldn’t be a nice change. I love vector graphics (just that I’m too lazy to take any svg’s and convert them to show here)…

That’s my super duper half spanish, half english title for “Wow, I can get back to art now”. Why? I finally finished my 6 compositions I promised I would turn in at my ourmedia page. You can go there and see the sort of rubbish I compose at your leisure (but only if you have enough sugar to endure! So help you if you don’t have enough juice to survive!). Mostly, I do electronic with a chilled/extremely energetic flare. No… not dance music. No… not insane music. All of it is incredibly silly. Just tell yourself that… better, say this aloud before you click the play button “This will probably be silly or mellow, or a mix of both.” (more…)

The free version of deep paint is just great (google “deep paint 2.0″). I swear, lots of stuff in that beast of a program. And free, I can hardly believe. Well, here’s an image that has a bunch of stuff in it (besides a fellow who clearly ate too much cookie dough last night):
I hade a chance to try out both art rage and the free version of project dogwaffle.
Art rage has a wonderful interface… it totally surpasses painter in several ways, but then it doesn’t have all the tools/media/mediums as painter. That said, it kicks arse. Here is a VERY crappy try at rendering clouds from tonight in artrage:
What about project dogwaffle? Well… the free version is FAR too limited to tell. But, from looking at it’s features, I guess it must be a pretty hot piece of software. But, looks can be very deceiving. I MIGHT just try out a full version some day, but for now, I want to look at one other program I got… and no… I didn’t forget about the larger project I’m working on… but that thing is a BEAST… I’m really unsure as to how I’ll pull it off, but I’m enjoying myself.

Why? Cuz, in order to pay you back for the few days I have missed (it just happened that way. I didn’t plan it… this just happened, and I saw the opportunity and asked God to take it from there), I’m going to make a grandiose and hopefully rather decent illustration of yet another dream I had which was vivid and fun. However, unlike the dream before I have done a lot more on this one all at once, thereby I can release it perhaps tomorrow even. We’ll see. Just trust me on this one. I have put out a draft of the creature that will be in it (his head, at least) on devart (browse over to http://dudymas.deviantart.com) as my latest deviation. I’ve got some bones to pick with it (that IS a pun, since I had to work on the skeleton of the guy before I could properly pose and put the flesh back on it.
What does it all mean? I hear you ask… well. It means that you’ll have to wait till tomorrow. Or today, rather. I see that I’m rather late in getting this update up… making it more like a downdate.
