Well then… I bet some of you (few to none of you) may be wondering where the heck I am. Well, unlike other places I hang out, I’ll be more open about what’s happening in life right here. (more…)

Starting to learn some digital painting stuff now. His ear is crooked… sorry

And yes… I’m still working on the lion. Believe me. It will take another month. I take my time ;-)

Finals time December 10, 2005

Finals next week. Here’s a revisiting of a sketch I did in class… only this was solely made in Gimp. It depicts how I feel about finals, but heck, it’s also just illustrating my need of relief. It’ll come soon enough as only a week and my classes will finish.

Ok then… I need to buy myself some time. I have a lot of work to do, so I can’t actually even elaborate or anything… I don’t even have time to read my last post and figure out what I was supposed to do today.

Nudder’ teaser December 1, 2005

Ah yes… time for another teaser of that work I introduced a whiles back.

I know. I’m a lazy bum. I could have finished it in a week if I wanted, but I’ve been slowly soaking it in, revising slowly… really enjoying the process. Some of the stuff I did was totally experimental. Like right now, what I’m doing in order to paint the thing is that I put in pure colors, so like his face looked super duper orange. Then I desaturate it. Then I put another layer of color on. Then I grey that down too. After I’m happy with the grey (but slightly coloured) tones, then I worked in the full color highlights. The shading sucks because I only have one layer and didn’t do any processing or anything at ALL. Why? Because you need to be able to visualize everything to put it down on canvas, be it digital or physical. Since I’m too inexperienced to imagine how the light hits the face on my first run, I’ll just get basic shading down, then I’ll finish the back ground. Once that’s done, I work on the shading. If the shading disagrees with the background, I’ll choose which shade pattern I like most, and start over. It’s just that simple. It’s just that fun. It’s… just… that… tedious.

Moreover, this has so far been a fond work of love. I’m really at ease when I do this stuff… enjoy the teaser (yes, still very incomplete):
